During the late 19th century, they were seen as decorative and transported to Sweden as garden plants, Giant Hogweed and Japanese Knotweed are just two species by many that today are considered alien and invasive in our nature. 1:1 Intruder emphasize man’s relationship to nature and how we try to make nature fit within our framework, when and where it suits us. In the exhibition, we meet these life-size plants through the two works. Withered and harmless plant bodies have been given life to decorative imprints, shapes of a past state, which through their seeds and roots constantly reappear and challenge beyond human control. 1:1 Intruder was part of the exhibition This Contruction of Meaning and GIBCA Extended in Alingsås Konsthall sept-oct 2021
